Objective
Contribute to the Government's efforts to improve the quality of life of the people in rural and urban areas by holding river basin management and conservation programs in a more efficient, comprehensive and integrated manner.
Main Activities
1. Determination of policies, strategies and guidelines in river management.
2. Cooperate with each state in river restoration activities and river improvement projects.
3. Provide technical services for each state and other agencies.
4. Planning and carrying out river studies.
Function
Providing expert services in integrated river management including the formulation of policies and legislation as well as ensuring that the river basin is managed perfectly for the preservation of the quantity and quality of water resources. (Clean, living & vibrant river)
Role
1. Implementation of IRBM throughout the country to support sustainable development including the study and preparation of IRBM plans.
2. Implement river management programs including river natural preservation, river beautification, awareness campaign and One State One River program.
3. Implement river restoration and preservation programs including solving the problem of river bank erosion, restoring and improving the condition of the river.
4. Manage and store relevant river information and data.
